Guan Ho Construction Co. Pte Ltd
company's achievement
Throughout the history of Guan Ho, we have initial implemented numerous new construction method system locally as follow:-

SYSTEM FORMWORK
For Kent Ridge Hospital Phase II (National University Hospital)which was structurally designed for trough forms. We went a step further and modified it to supplier of plastic form, a support system which enable us to complete the works two (2) months ahead of schedule.

PREFABRICATION
We have, under the PWD Core Contracting Scheme in 1984, taken the initiative to change the cast in-situ structural and design into pre-cast construction system for both our Packages 4 & 5, a total of 14 schools, either to fully pre-cast system or semi-pre-cast system. With these innovation we are able to shorten the lead time for structural works to 3 months.

STRUCTURAL SYSTEM
We undertake more than 1,000 tones of structural steel construction without problem and ahead of schedule for our SATS Terminal Expansion Terminals 1A & 4A.

JACK-UP OF ROOF
Our joint venture with Ssangyong Construction, has enabled us to undertake the lifting up of 2,400 tones diamond shaped roof of the Singapore Indoor Stadium using Pantadom system as developed by Professor Mamoru Kawaguchi. We were awarded the Construction Excellence Award 1991 under the Institutional Building Category for this project.

RETROFITTING
The major Renovation of MND Complex, was in 1987 one of the biggest retrofitting jobs in Singapore with occupants still within the complex, was successfully completed within schedule. For this project we are awarded the Construction Excellent Award (1992) under the Commercial Building Category which is the first in Singapore for a renovated building.

SYSTEM FORMWORK FOR KRANJI MULTI STOREY CARPARK
We combined the use of aluma support with conventional formwork system and manage to achieve right on target of eight (8) months to complete an area of 110,000m2 including the ramps of approximately 3,000m2

CIDB Award for Construction Excellence 1991

Singapore Indoor Stadium is situated along Stadium Walk in Kallang , next to the Singapore National Stadium. The contract was awarded to Ssanyong – Guan Ho Construction Joint Venture for the contract sum of S$68, 068, 000.

The principal feature of the design by renowned Japanese Architect , Professor Kenzo Tange is the diamond shaped plan and the concave profile of the roof which is first time used in South East Asia. The main challenge to the design of the Indoor Stadium is the clear span roof structure for unobstructed view. There are only 2 pairs of internal columns. The 2400 tone roof is supported by 58 deeply spaced tabular steel perimeter columns.

The roof structure used for the Singapore Indoor Stadium is the Keel Truss and Space Frame System made up of nodes and steel pipe members. The Roof consists of a Top Roof and Main Roof that divided by 4 Keel Roof stretching along its long and shoot axes. Parts of the components were manufacture in a local fabrication plant.Non destructive Testing were used to detect any possible defects in the structures before these materials were transported to the site for on-site assembly.

CIDB Award for Construction Excellence 1992

The project involved the retrofitting of the 25 storey Ministry of National Development Building and its 3 storey Annexes A block which were constructed and completed in 1990.

The scope of work includes the replacement and upgrading of all deteriorating M&E system such as air condition, electrical installations, lifts, plumbing system, fire protection and internal architectural finishes works; addition of building automation and security system, tele-lift and data communication system; improved materials and finishes and addition of new facilities such as auditorium, squash courts and function rooms; and external cladding to the whole façade of the building.

The main challenge faced by Guan Ho project team for this big retrofitting project was that a substantial part of the building was still being occupied while renovation work was being carried out.Given the complexity of such a massive retrofitting job, the Assessment Committee was impressed that the contractor was able to successfully complete the project on time and with minimal complaints and inconveniences to the occupiers building.
